Do you like to get started tailgating early in the morning so you have plenty of time? Or maybe it’s an early afternoon game? Ditch the make-do hot dogs for breakfast, because this list will spark some ideas for actual breakfast that you can make right on the grill.

Grilled breakfast sandwiches

Choose your bread of choice; bread slices, bagels, English muffins, whatever you’d like. Butter and toast on the grill. Set aside once browned. Choose your meat option; sausage, bacon, turkey bacon, ham. Grill in a pan to your liking. Cook your eggs in a skillet. Add the eggs and meat to your bread choice, add cheese, and enjoy.

Hash

Cook potatoes in boiling water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain. Cook bacon in a cast-iron skillet, until crisp, about 10 minutes. Let cool and then crumble. Add potatoes to skillet, lightly smashing them using the back of a spoon or fork. Cook until just brown, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Crumble bacon into skillet. Set hash to one side of skillet. Add oil as needed and crack 2 eggs into the skillet. Season with salt and pepper and cook until desired. Add scallions into hash if desired. Serve eggs with hash.

Grilled fruit

Get creative on this one because there’s a lot of different fruit options and ways to go about grilled fruit. The natural sugars in the fruit caramelize and the flavor becomes really concentrated. The better fruit options that grill well are pineapple, apples, pears, grapefruit, and melons. Chop and eat on skewers or mix up in a bowl straight off the grill.

Grilled breakfast pizza

Roll out pizza dough to be about ¼ inch thickness. Drizzle olive oil on both sides of the dough and place on grill on high heat. Checking every 30 seconds or so, grill until grill marks appear and then flip. Place the dough on a part of the grill that does not have direct heat. Crack three eggs on the dough and cover for 2-3 minutes. Once eggs are set, sprinkle cheese, bacon, salt, pepper, and whatever other toppings you’d like on pizza. Let cool, cut, and enjoy!
