In June, Cali Commons presents the work of three local artists: Sarah McWilliams, Rick Merwin, and Jason H. Smith.

An Artist Reception will take place Saturday, June 13 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

The gallery is also open by appointment – just send an email to info@calicommons.com to make arrangements.

Sarah McWilliams creates texturized acrylics on canvas with the valued kinesthetic tool of a palette knife. Her paintings emanate a lot of movement; predominantly of colorful abstract animals. Her studies are mostly self- taught as she has lived an eclectic life of various professions including Cosmetology yet she has completed classes at Community Colleges.

Rick Merwin became fascinated with geometric shapes at an early age, and began drawing and painting a variety of geometric styles and arrangements. He calls his style “Geoism.” He studied oil painting under the tutelage of Tony Greco at the University of Omaha. For many years, Mr. Merwin has painted illustrations, faux finishing, murals, calligraphy, and signs.

Jason H. Smith has been painting daily for the last 6 years. He uses acrylics, oils, watercolor, sand, glue, plaster, crayons, and anything else he finds useful. He often likes mixing mediums. Someday, he will transition into landscape and portrait work, but for now he is focusing on color and space. This is his first public show in 3 years.
