OPENING NIGHT 2/9 - 5-9pm | On Exhibit 2/9 3/6

is an installation made up of photographs, notes, collected objects, and stacked air-mattresses. The idea for the project came to me in the wee-hours of the morning in the midst of a somewhat sleepless night as I laid awake worrying where I’d be living the following week. I’d failed to plan living arrangements under the stress of my approaching thesis exhibition, lack of financial stability, and daily responsibilities (real rudimentary stuff). I originally wanted to buy and live in a van, but my timeline was running short. I thought of a sort of mini-adventure, a chance to document a period of time rapidly bouncing from one place to another. I began reaching out to people in my life asking if I could stay with them for a couple days at a time. I minimized my personal possessions to fit in the back of my Jeep, asking myself how much do I need to live modestly? I liked the simplicity of having everything I needed within arms reach. For a month I stayed with a number of agreeable subjects; the only two stipulations were I would photograph each place I slept and collect one object from the space which would then be placed in a room as a collective installation. I didn’t want to be a burden or impede on anyone’s daily habits and responsibilities. I simply wanted to be present in someone else’s space.
