Why did you choose a NPI Franchise over becoming an independent inspector?
When I decided to change my career path from an electrician to property inspector, I knew the best way to proceed would be through a franchise. Like everyone looking for a franchise, I Googled, homes inspector franchises, and several came up. I called them all. My research was thorough and exhaustive, but to make a good decision my time was well spent. The first franchise I called, they put down other franchises and was very, very pushy on how well they do. He turned me off, but I invested time in learning all I could about what support they would "offer me". It turned out it was minimal and their royalties were not. The next, had the view that they could not trust the franchisees, so they developed their software to monitor how many inspections were done so the franchisees would pay the correct royalties due. Again, I asked about training, support help in starting up and ongoing help with marketing. Oh sure, we do that, he said but did not give specifics. I then called more and got the same. Then I called National Property Inspections in Omaha, Nebraska, I am in North Carolina. The woman I spoke to was Julie Erickson. Wow, I was blown away, her friendliness and her questions for me were great. Yes, she was interested in what I had done in my career, what I wanted in an inspection career and if my wife was going to be involved or supportive. The other companies were just interested in getting the contracts to me to sign and get going. Julie answered every question I had, and there were allot. She was patient and even answered questions I hadn't thought of. NPI is above the rest. I say that with not a hint of hesitation. The training they provide to get started, the start up package and ongoing support is second to non. Just call the others, you'll know what I mean. My company has continued to grow in this down economy with their support and continued training each year. No one at the home office is ever too busy to help me. Roland Bates, President of NPI is a man with strong morals and integrity. Roland answers his own phone and is there to help in any way he can. He leads by example and being a franchisee of NPI with his lead, I know I am blessed to have chosen National Property Inspections for my franchise. Call the 800 number now and speak to Julie Erickson, you won't be sorry you did.
